Collection: Álvaro Domecq
Álvaro Domecq is a relatively young house but one with a history. Álvaro Domecq Romero is the son of Álvaro Domecq Díez, in many respects a colourful but also a traditional man (pilot under Franco, breeder of fighting bulls, member of Opus Dei, rejoneador - bullfighter on horseback ... ) while at the same time being a descendant of the famous Domecq winemaking family. In 1994, the Domecq family sold the bodega to Allied Lyons - hence the name of Allied Domecq. The wines were sold to houses like Lustau, Osborne and others ...
In 1999, Álvaro Domecq Romero acquired what was then known as Bodegas de Pilar Aranda. He immediately began to sell the wines under the name of Álvaro Domecq. From day one, Alvaro made a resolute choice for quality in order to differentiate himself within the wide offerings of the sherry sector. He started by selecting the best must (i.e. young wine) available in the Sherry Triangle.
