Garnacha, Syrah and Cariñena (known locally as Mazuela). The grapes are grown on the slopes of the Moncayo volcano. Pebble and rock soil on clay and limestone. 20- to 60-year-old vines. 12-month ageing in French (90%) and American oak barrels. Aromas of red fruit, mild herbs, light toast and vanilla (the wood is nicely absorbed by the wine). Fleshy in the mouth, nicely structured with resolved tannins. Delicious with peas and beans, roast red meat and rice dishes with meat.
