Collection: D. Mateos

Bodegas D. Mateos has been making wine in Rioja for seven generations. The family estate is located in Aldeanueva de Ebro, thus Rioja Baja, near the Ebro. A few years ago its official name was changed to Rioja Oriental. It is the hottest part of the region, therefore it is logical that more Garnacha is planted here and that this sun-loving grape is used increasingly.

The estate consists of four large plots, with a different grape variety cultivated on each, according to each grape's requirements:

1. Finca el Salobrar: 15 hectares of Tempranillo of an average age of 45 years.

2. Finca el Coscojar: 6 hectares of Graciano.

3. Finca el Bosquil: 8 hectares of Garnacha. The average age of the vines here is 55 years, with outliers up to 75 years.

4. Finca Los Queamos: 10 hectares of white Tempranillo.
