Collection: Finca San Blas
The Zahonero family owns this 585 hectare estate to the southwest of Requena. It is not only planted with vines, but also with olive trees and almond bushes, etc. ... in the middle of a natural habitat of pine woods and a wide variety of herbs. The vineyards themselves are located on average 700 metres above sea level and cover an area of 83 hectares. The grape varieties grown are: Bobal, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, Merseguera, Xarel.lo and Chenin Blanc, each planted in the most favourable spot.
Nicolas Sanchez is the winemaker. He is a Bobal grape specialist and professor at both the Requena School of Oenology and at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Together with the Zahonero family, he has instituted innovation in the region: planting new grape varieties, applying modern techniques, and even introducing Tokay techniques to make a botrytis wine.
