Collection: Soto Manrique

Jesús María Soto ('Chuchi'), co-founder of Bodegas Leda and amongst things salesman for Belondrade y Lurton, starts a wine company with his wife (Manrique) and her sister in 2013: Soto Manrique. After working several years in the Duero valley, he finally ends up in the picturesque village of Cebreros. A municipality in the province of Ávila, located on the edge of the Gredos Mountains, northwest of Madrid.

Soto takes over the local cooperative of Cebreros in 2016 and also establishes his own bodega. The cooperative manages 240 hectares of vineyards, including 25 hectares for Soto Manrique. With the exception of the Tinita verdejo, all wines belong to the newest appellation in Sierra de Gredos, D.O.P. Cebreros.

Soto uses Albillo for his white wines. The red grape is garnacha tinta from vineyards at an altitude between 700 and 1080 meters, on a unique soil of mainly granite, (there is also some slate). The vineyards are mostly planted with vines that are at least 70 years old. The garnacha adapts beautifully to the different micro-terroirs and ensures wines each with their own, unique character and a consintently beautiful acidity. The wines of Soto Manrique will soon all be certified organic.
