Collection: Tierra de Castilla y León
Castilla y León is the largest autonomous region in Spain. It is bordered by Asturias and Cantabria to the north, and by Navarra, La Rioja and the Basque Country to the east. Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha form its southern borders, and Galicia, Extramadura and Portugal its western ones. Some of Spain's most famous wine regions are geographically part of Castilla y León: Ribera del Duero, Bierzo, Rueda, ...
But there are also wine regions which do not belong to one or the other D.O.s where great wine is made nonetheless. Under certain conditions, they may be called Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León. These regions are mostly located in the northern meseta, a large part of the high plateau that dominates the Spanish interior. The vineyards are situated at 600 metres to 1,100 metres with a continental climate, the right soil and large temperature fluctuations.
