100% Tempranillo (known locally as Tinto Fino) from pre-Phylloxera vines (100 to 140 years old). The La Mala plot (0.8 hectare) is a narrow terrace towering high above the Atauta valley on the right bank of the Duero near San Esteban de Gormaz. The soil consists of a thin layer of sand on a 70 cm thick layer of limestone. Average yield per harvest: 950 bottles. 18-month ageing in French oak barrels. Complex aromas of ripe red and black fruit, leather, coffee, Mediterranean herbs, tobacco and toast. Remarkable minerality.
