Collection: Finca Albret

Finca Albret is the winemakers of Principe de Viana's personal project, as a tribute to the Albret, the last dynasty of kings of Navarre. The aim is to make exclusive wines from grapes grown on small plots, each with its own particular characteristics.

D.O. Navarra:

This region is situated on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees, bordering Rioja. The D.O. is endowed with state-of-the-art wine technology, with bodegas that were only set up after the Spanish accession to the EEC (1986), with generous subsidies and the Spanish agricultural authorities' recommendation to choose international grape varieties (Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot...) with the aim of targeting the region at the export market.

The autonomous region of Navarra contains a wide range of different landscapes extending from the central Pyrenees to the Ebro Valley. Spectacular mountains in the north give way to green, undulating foothills and then to a semi-arid plain in the south. The vineyards of D.O. Navarra are located in the southern part of the region between Pamplona and the plains.

Until the 1980s, Navarra - producer of red, white and rosé wines - was best known for its traditional rosé, but it has since emerged as one of Spain's most established winemaking regions.
This development is largely thanks to the work of the ‘Estación de Viticultura y Enología de Navarra’ (Navarra Viticulture and Oenological Research Station). This centre, established by the Regional Government near Olite, undertakes research and training in the field of viticulture and winemaking. It has contributed to turning the D.O. into the producer of a great variety of wines, a rare phenomenon in Spain. Thus, today Navarra makes quality reds, whites, rosés, whites and Moscatels.
