100% Monastrell from original, non-grafted vines, planted in 1942 and still growing on the La Solana plot. Traditional fermentation of the whole bunches. Malolactic fermentation in 500 litre, French oak barrels, followed by 16 months' ageing. Bottled without filtering. Expressive nose with complex ripe red & black fruit, almost jammy aromas. And also herb, coffee, balsamic and floral tones. Restrained boldness noticeable in the mouth. The ripe fruit dominates. The wood is barely noticeable. Almost perfect balance. Even at this young age the tannins are polished and silky smooth.
